Circa 1940s, this embossed panne silk velvet dress has a fabulous Art Deco floral and leaf print with a full length, panelled skirt. The full circular hem has bias cut elements which ensure an even flared fit. The bodice is neatly fitted with a sweetheart neckline, satin spaghetti straps and fully lined in a good quality acetate. The dress fastens to the rear with a zip and there is an attached grosgrain ribbon waist-shaper. The condition is absolutely fabulous for something from this era. There are no faults whatsoever with the black velvet silk retaining its lush sheen and inky black colour. The zip is probably a replacement but it has been inserted very well. This piece will best fit up to a UK size 10, US 6.
